The dye reacts and degrades as a result of the initial treatment of the wool pile. Onyx carpets are made using a procedure that results in a rug with a distinctive texture. This process is meticulously managed to create a specific pattern of oxidation. The sections of the rug that have undergone oxidation have a lower pile density than the unoxidized areas, which have a higher density. This gives the rug a three-dimensional appearance and a soft, velvety feel. As a result, the rug also has a jewel-toned color scheme. Rich, vivid hues that frequently have a metallic sheen are used. Because of this, onyx carpets are a popular option for anyone looking for rugs with a sophisticated and exquisite appearance.
