This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how Arteverk Home LLC, doing business as Arteverk Rugs & Home ("Arteverk," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit, contact, or make a purchase from www.arteverk.com or interact with us offline or through our social and marketing channels (collectively, the "Services"). It also describes the privacy rights available to you and how to exercise them. The Services are intended for customers in the United States. By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

Personal information we collect

We collect the following categories of personal information. These categories also correspond to those defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA):

  • Identifiers and contact data — your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and, where you create one, account login details.
  • Order and commercial data — products you view, add to cart, favorite, or purchase; order history; and records of customer service interactions.
  • Payment data — payment card and billing information. Card details are collected and processed directly by our payment processors in encrypted form; we do not store full payment card numbers.
  • Device and usage data — browser type, device identifiers, IP address, time zone, cookie and pixel data, referring pages, and how you interact with the Services. Collected automatically via cookies, log files, pixels, tags, and similar technologies.
  • Analytics and session-recording data — de-identified interaction data such as mouse movement, clicks, and scrolling, used to understand and improve usability. See “Analytics and session recording” below.
  • Communications and marketing data — the content of emails, messages, reviews, and survey responses, and your marketing and communication preferences.
  • Inferences — limited preferences drawn from the above (for example, rug styles or sizes you appear interested in) used to personalize your experience.

Sensitive personal information. The only information we handle that may be considered “sensitive” is payment/financial account information, which we use solely to process your orders. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you, and we do not sell it.

We do not intentionally collect more information than we need, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children (see “Children’s privacy” below).

How we collect personal information

We collect personal information: (i) directly from you when you place an order, create an account, contact us, sign up for marketing, or leave a review; (ii) automatically as you use the Services, through cookies and similar technologies; and (iii) from service providers and partners such as our e-commerce platform, payment processors, analytics and advertising providers, and shipping carriers.

How we use your personal information

We use personal information to:

  • provide, process, and fulfill your orders, including payment, shipping, and confirmations;
  • create and manage your account and provide customer support;
  • operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Services and our products;
  • detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and other unlawful activity;
  • personalize your experience and show you relevant content and products;
  • with your consent or as otherwise permitted, send you marketing emails about new arrivals, one-of-a-kind pieces, and offers;
  • comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in our emails or by contacting us.

How we share personal information

We share personal information with service providers and partners who help us operate the business, only as needed to provide their service and under contracts that limit their use of the information. These currently include:

  • Shopify — our e-commerce platform and payment processing (Shopify Payments). See shopify.com/legal/privacy.
  • Payment processors — to process transactions securely.
  • Klaviyo — email marketing and related analytics.
  • Microsoft Clarity — analytics, heatmaps, and session recording. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • Google — analytics (Google Analytics) and, via the Google sales channel, product listings and advertising.
  • Meta (Facebook & Instagram) — advertising delivery and measurement via the Meta Pixel.
  • Microsoft Advertising (Bing) — search advertising, conversion measurement, and remarketing via the Microsoft UET tag.
  • Judge.me — collection and display of customer product reviews.
  • Smile.io — our rewards and loyalty program.
  • Shipping carriers and our fulfillment workflow — to deliver your order.
  • Professional advisors and authorities — lawyers, accountants, and, where required, government or law-enforcement bodies.

We may also disclose personal information to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests (such as a subpoena), enforce our terms, protect our rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets. We do not sell your personal information for money. Our use of advertising cookies and pixels may, however, be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under certain state laws; you can opt out as described under “Your privacy rights” below.

Analytics and session recording

To understand how visitors use the Services, we use analytics and session-recording tools (including Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics). These capture interaction data — page views, clicks, scrolling, and similar — to help us improve layout, performance, and usability. We do not use these tools to read the content you type into form fields for the purpose of identifying you, and sensitive fields are masked where the tool supports it. Where required, we obtain your consent through our cookie banner before these tools run.

Advertising and your choices

We use your information to show you relevant advertising on third-party platforms (such as Meta, Google, and Microsoft Advertising/Bing) and to measure those ads. This may involve cookies and similar technologies and the sharing of certain information with advertising partners. You can learn about and opt out of interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative, by managing ad settings directly with platforms like Meta and Google, or by using our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.

Pinterest API and Pinterest-connected features

We use the Pinterest API to manage and publish content to our own Pinterest business account and to retrieve analytics about that content. Our use of the Pinterest API is subject to the Pinterest Developer Guidelines and API Terms of Service and the Pinterest Privacy Policy.

Arteverk is not endorsed by, sponsored by, affiliated with, or otherwise associated with Pinterest. “Pinterest” and related marks are trademarks of Pinterest, Inc.

Pinterest-derived data. Any data we obtain through the Pinterest API (such as Pinterest content, boards, pins, and associated analytics) is used only to operate our own marketing on Pinterest. If we disconnect our Pinterest account, or if Pinterest access is revoked or a connection is removed, we stop accessing the Pinterest API and delete the Pinterest-derived data we hold, except where we are required to retain it to comply with a legal obligation. You can prompt this by asking us to disconnect at hello@arteverk.com.

No resale or redistribution. We do not sell, resell, license, or otherwise redistribute Pinterest content or Pinterest-derived data to any third party.

Cookies and tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the store to function (cart, checkout, login, security) and others for analytics and advertising as described above. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, our cookie banner; blocking some cookies may affect how the Services work. For more detail, see our Cookie Policy and Shopify’s cookie list.

Do Not Track. Because there is no common industry standard for Do Not Track (“DNT”) signals, our Services do not currently respond to them. We do honor recognized opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required by law.

Email marketing

If you opt in, we send marketing emails about new arrivals, one-of-a-kind pieces, and offers. Consent to marketing is not a condition of any purchase. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of our emails or by contacting us at hello@arteverk.com.

Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services and for the purposes described in this Policy. In practice, order and transaction records are kept for the period required by tax, accounting, and consumer-protection laws (generally several years); account and marketing data are kept until you close your account or withdraw consent; and analytics and advertising data are kept for shorter periods consistent with each provider’s settings. We retain information longer where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements, after which we delete or de-identify it.

Data security

We use Shopify’s secure, PCI-compliant infrastructure together with reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you have reason to believe your interaction with us is no longer secure, please contact us immediately.

Your privacy rights

California (CCPA/CPRA). California residents have the right to know and access the personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request correction or deletion; to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information; and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell personal information for money, but our use of advertising cookies and pixels may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. Opt out any time via our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page or a recognized opt-out signal such as GPC. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

Texas (TDPSA). Texas residents have the right to confirm whether we process their personal data; to access, correct, and delete it; to obtain a portable copy; and to opt out of (i) targeted advertising, (ii) the sale of personal data, and (iii) certain profiling. As described above, our use of advertising cookies and pixels may constitute targeted advertising or a “sale” under Texas law. You may opt out using our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page or a recognized opt-out signal such as GPC. We do not sell sensitive personal data and do not process it without your consent.

Other U.S. states. Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Montana, and others) have comparable rights to access, correct, delete, and port their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and certain profiling. To exercise these rights, use the methods below.

How to exercise your rights. Submit a request by emailing hello@arteverk.com, using our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, or writing to the address above. To protect your information, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on a request, and may need to ask for information to do so. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to proof of authorization. We will respond within the time required by law — generally within 45 days, which may be extended where permitted.

Non-discrimination and appeals. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights. If we decline your request, you may appeal by contacting us at hello@arteverk.com. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general (for Texas, the Office of the Texas Attorney General; for California, the California Privacy Protection Agency).

United States only

The Services are intended for and directed to customers in the United States. We do not aim the Services at residents of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, and we process personal information in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local law.

Children’s privacy

The Services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party links

The Services may contain links to third-party websites, platforms, and services that we do not control. This Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where required, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.

If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with your state consumer-protection authority (for California, the California Privacy Protection Agency; for Texas, the Office of the Texas Attorney General).
