Lattice Design The Lattice design was also made in Shiraz rugs and features shrubs or flower heads. Mihrab (prayer arch) The Mihrab (prayer arch) design is a traditional Islamic design that is often found in Shiraz rugs. This design features a pointed arch that is surrounded by geometric patterns. Shrub and Tree of Life The Shrub and Tree of Life designs are both tribal designs that are often found in Shiraz rugs. These designs feature stylized trees or shrubs that are surrounded by geometric patterns. Other Features Shiraz rugs generally have one or two narrow major borders and minor borders. They are made from wool and are hand-knotted. Shiraz rugs are known for their high quality and durability.
