The Mahallat region of Azerbaijan is the place where the Mahal style of Persian carpets first appeared. The rugs are renowned for their hand-knotted designs, vivid colors, and semi-geometric patterns. Mahal rugs have a lengthy and illustrious past that dates to the sixteenth century. The Mahallat region's nomadic tribes created them at first, using them as floor coverings. The Sultanabad forms of rug weaving, which were well-liked at the time, had an influence on the carpets. Mahal carpets are renowned for their hand-knotted designs, vivid hues, and semi-geometric patterns. The rugs are often made of wool, and they are frequently knotted with a lot of knots, giving them a soft, opulent feel and enhancing their durability. Mahal rugs come in a range of shapes and sizes, but the colors that you'll most often see them in are beige, red, and blue. Large palmettes with leaves and vines, Harshang (crab), Herati (fish), Minakhani (rosette-linked trellis), Open Field with a central medallion, Maighan designs, and other conventional patterns are common Persian themes seen in the carpets.
