A unique combination of Persian and Indian artistic styles, Agra rugs are inspired by Mughal artistry included scenic vistas and floral motifs. These rugs, which were often so densely knotted are thought to have been made in a number of places, including Agra and Lahore. The manufacture of carpets moved beyond being solely an economic endeavor during the Mughal era. Instead, it was closely related to the affluent tastes of the royal family, cultural customs, and the highly regarded artistic ideals in the Islamic world.
