Las alfombras persas, conocidas como alfombras Meshad, Mashad, se produjeron por primera vez en la ciudad iraní de Meshad. Las alfombras son famosas por su excelente lana, buenas técnicas de teñido e ilustraciones de dibujos animados bien creadas. También son famosos por sus diseños elaborados, que frecuentemente incorporan temas persas clásicos como el Herati (pez), el Chahar Bagh (una vista aérea de un jardín de cuatro partes), el medallón de Shah Abbas y el diseño del Arbusto. Las alfombras Meshad tienen un pasado largo e ilustre que se remonta al siglo XVI. Al principio las tribus nómadas de la región de Meshad las crearon, usándolas como revestimiento para el suelo.
