La región de Mahallat en Irán es el lugar donde apareció por primera vez el estilo Mahal de las alfombras persas. Las alfombras son famosas por sus diseños anudados a mano, colores vivos y patrones semigeométricos. Las alfombras Mahal tienen un pasado largo e ilustre que se remonta al siglo XVI. Al principio las tribus nómadas de la región de Mahallat las crearon y las utilizaron como revestimiento para el suelo.
